Silvia (Tappan) Sanchez Diaz
Graduate certificate student; currently a doctoral candidate in anthropology at the University of Kansas. Silvia investigates the diverse forms of work available to women in Mesoamerica. Her dissertation research will document the skills and occupations of Maya Kaqchikel women in Pa Su’m, Iximulew. Her goal is to understand how women's experiences and perspectives interact with trends in the global market and discourses of gender equality. Her previous work has also explored the development industry and Guatemala's healthcare system. Silvia cares about making research available to broader audiences -- she wants to create a digital archive, a temporary exhibit and teaching materials based on her dissertation research.
