About Us

Situated in the heart of the Midwest, you'll find world-class art and natural history collections and professionals working in our campus museums, and nationally known history, art and cultural museums, unique local museums, and more within a short drive to Kansas City and Topeka.

You'll also find personalized, genuine support. In our program, you take center stage. We keep our cohorts small to ensure you get the most out of all we have to offer, including time with our faculty and staff. Don't forget to take advantage of the flexibility of the M.A. to build the skillsets and knowledge you need to set you apart in the field, too!

Last but not least, our program is open to all future museum professionals, regardless of background or professional aspirations. Our flexible curriculum provides opportunities for students to pursue wide-ranging programs of study. We offer the country's first joint program in Museum Studies and African & African-American studies, where you'll earn two master's degrees in three years. A wide range of graduate certificates (think of them as graduate minors) in areas including Indigenous studies, nonprofit management, and women, gender & sexuality studies can be integrated into your degree without adding time to graduate or cost, allowing you to explore your interests and develop marketable areas of expertise.
