Biography —
As Curator of European & American Art since 1996, Susan Earle has organized more than 70 exhibitions at the Spencer Museum and commissioned work by numerous artists. Her books include An Errant Line: Ann Hamilton & Cynthia Schira (2013) and Aaron Douglas: African American Modernist (Yale, 2007). Her research focuses on feminisms, works by Black women, textiles, and underrepresented groups. She is a board member of the African American Quilt Museum and has received several teaching and research honors. She holds a BA with distinction from Williams College and a PhD from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.
