In 2018, she received the Roddenberry fellowship in order to further develop the museum. She is also a founding member of “Not an Alternative”, a social justice arts collective, and she was a co-organizer and board member of the March for Science in 2017. Economopoulos previously served as the Director of Online Organizing at Greenpeace and the Director of Strategy at Fission Strategy, where she worked with the Global Climate Change Alliance and the United Nations Foundation. She is a sustainability advocate, and has protested museums with connections to petroleum interests and climate change deniers, encouraging other museums to cut ties with them.
