Memberships

The Museum Studies Program at the University of Kansas is a member of multiple professional organizations dedicated to advancing the museum field.

American Alliance of Museums (AAM): The American Alliance of Museums’ mission is to strengthen museums through leadership, advocacy, collaboration, and service.


 

American Association of State and Local History (AASLH): The American Association of State and Local History provides leadership and support for its members who preserve and interpret state and local history in order to make the past more meaningful to all Americans.
 

Kansas Museums Association: The Kansas Museums Association is a professional association dedicated to serving the museums of Kansas. Members represent a range of organizations and professionals in the state of Kansas such as art galleries and museums, historical societies, historic preservation, museums, natural history museums, convention and visitors bureaus, and zoos.


Mountain-Plains Museums Association (MPMA): The Mountain-Plains Museums Association was founded in 1953 and provides services to museums in its 10-state region.



  Western Museums Association (WMA): The Western Museums Association (WMA) is a nonprofit, membership organization dedicated to serving museums, museum professionals, as well as the related organizations and
                              individuals, by providing vision, enrichment, intellectual challenge, and a forum for communication and interaction.

Museum Events

Wednesday, February 28 | 6:30 p.m.
KU Natural History Museum, 1345 Jayhawk Blvd.
A celebration of more than 100 years of KU herpetology research programs and the careers of Linda Trueb and Bill Duellman. Explore the Natural History Museum's reptile and amphibian collections and enjoy appetizers and drinks. Dine in the Panorama Gallery with KU herpetology scientists and students conducting reptile and amphibian research across the globe.

7:00 pm: dinner and program
