Dr. Juilee Decker - Authenticity and Sincerity

Juilee Decker is an Associate Professor of Museum Studies at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Decker earned her Ph.D. in 2003 from the joint program in Art History and Museum Studies at Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Museum of Art. Since 2008, she has served as editor of Collections: A Journal for Museum and Archives Professionals. Decker is also a prolific author; her most recent publication is a revision of the museum studies textbook Museums in Motion: An Introduction to the History and Functions of Museums. Decker has curated/co-curated numerous exhibitions focusing on art, material culture, and public history and has served as a consultant to public art projects and programs in the U.S. She serves on the Board of the National Susan B. Anthony Museum and House and is a juror for the Education Committee of the American Alliance of Museums. She has a passion for objects and seeks ways to facilitate dialogues between communities and the objects, spaces, places, and practices that they hold dear.
